From drawing to finished component: an integrated process
Casting, machining, finishing and inspection belong to the same chain of decisions. Understand the logic that connects these stages.

ITA / ITA / KNOWLEDGEA casting is not finished when it leaves the mold. Before reaching the equipment, the component passes through a sequence of decisions that begins with technical analysis and continues through process definition, casting, machining, finishing and verification.
Technical analysis and planning
The first step is to understand the drawing, sample, material and service conditions. Functional areas, machining allowances, machining references and assembly requirements are identified at this stage.
Planning must consider the finished component from the outset. This makes it possible to establish references and anticipate how each stage will provide the conditions required for the next.
Casting as part of the final result
The casting strategy considers the geometry and characteristics of the selected alloy. The raw shape must accommodate subsequent operations while accounting for areas that will remain as-cast.
Coordination between stages helps identify deviations before they progress through the production chain.
Machining, assembly and finishing
During machining, references and functional dimensions reach their final condition. For compound components, other operations may include connection assembly, adjustments and complementary work defined by the project.
- Preservation of the references defined during planning.
- Control of mounting interfaces and functional areas.
- A coherent sequence for material removal, adjustments and finishing.
- Verification consistent with the drawing requirements.
Integration reduces noise between stages
When teams work from a shared interpretation of the project, decisions cease to be isolated and begin to consider the complete result. This integrated view is particularly valuable for special components, where small changes may affect several stages.
